Downton Abbey is back tonight! Heres what to expect from series three

If you've been missing a little costume drama in your life then get ready for the return of Downton Abbey! Yay!

What's in store for the third series then? Well, we're about to give you some hints…

When we left Downton at the Christmas Special, Mary and Matthew shared a passionate kiss in the snow, now the preparations for their wedding are at a climax. Two things we know… Lady Mary is likely going to outdo Kate Middleton in the blushing bride style stakes,

"The dress is absolutely stunning," Michelle Dockery – who plays Mary – has told The Mirror.

The other thing we know. Matthew and Mary aren't guaranteed  their happily ever after,

"I think we would have been hard pushed to string out the whole will-they-won't-they intrigue for yet another series," admits Dan Stevens, AKA Matthew.

"Getting married will be a new chapter in Matthew and Mary's love story, but will they be happy? Well..."

Matthew and Mary aren't the only Downton couple. There's Lady Sybil and her chauffeur husband Branson, who's now a journalist.  The newlyweds are expecting a baby, which, according to actress Jessica Brown Findlay is all good fun,

"It was lovely and I really enjoyed playing pregnant. It was quite an interesting experience and all the dresses were incredibly comfy so the '20s were a good time to be pregnant," she has told The Telegraph.

"I did quite a lot of historical research and I talked to a couple of members of my family who are midwives. We had a lady come in to give us talks about what it was like to give birth in those days."

Elsewhere, the family could face their biggest problem yet, as they face losing their fortune - well, Cora's fortune – after an investment in a US rail company goes wrong.

"Robert took a huge gamble with his wife Cora's money and that's why he is emotionally devastated," reveals Hugh Bonneville. "His sole purpose in life is to make sure the house gets handed on to the next generation, but he's mucked it up."

And lastly, there's only Shirley flipping MacLaine joining the cast – we can't wait for her banter with Dame Maggie Smith's Dowager Countess.

Downton Abbey is on tonight on ITV1 at 9pm.
